Add big word-by-word captions to a video
Burn captions of what is said into the picture, with the word being said lit up, in four looks. The words are written down on your computer.
01Open the Captions tab
Open the video in the Editor and go to Captions. Tick Add captions: the speech is written down on this computer, the same way as for Edit by text. Captions are optional and come with the license.
02Pick a look
Bold puts big capitals with a thick outline on the picture. Box sets the word being said on a coloured box. Pop shows words as they are said, the newest popping in colour. Clean writes calm sentences on a dark band, for talks, lessons, and interviews.
03Colour and words at a time
COLOUR OF THE WORD BEING SAID offers yellow, green, cyan, pink, purple, red, and white. WORDS AT A TIME goes from 1 word, big and fast, through 2 to 3 words and up to 6, to 2 lines of whole sentences for longer talks.
04Size and place
SIZE runs from 60 to 160 %, 100 % to start with. PLACE puts them at the top, in the middle, or at the bottom, and Adjust on preview lets you drag them anywhere. Capital letters writes every word in capitals; No commas and full stops leaves out the punctuation but keeps question and exclamation marks.
05They follow your edits
Captions follow the trim, the text cuts, and the speed, and they are drawn at the exported size, so they fit a vertical format too. A word the recognition got wrong can be fixed by double-clicking it in the Cut tab's text, and the caption shows the fix.
06Export
Captions are burned into the picture, so they show everywhere the video plays; for switchable subtitles use AI Subtitles instead. The Export tab lists the look and the number of captions, and Export to Queue writes a new file.
