Release notes

What's new in ClipHearth

Every release, newest first. ClipHearth went public with 1.3.7; the versions before it were a private beta, tested on real use since July 2026. The app installs updates for you after verifying their signature.

Several of these features started as suggestions from people using ClipHearth. If something is missing, tell us what you would use it for.

  1. 1.7.7latest

    • The update window shows the whole update as one ring. Show details lists the steps and how long each one took.
    • Cover private details reads a screenshot before anything is saved. The screenshots folder and the clipboard only get the covered picture.
    • Cover private details also finds small text in screenshots of 4K and 5K screens and in long scrolling screenshots.
    • Kept shortcuts leave out keys that type a character, such as AltGr on a Czech or German keyboard.
    • A paused download goes on only while the file on the site is still the same. A changed file downloads again from the start.
    • Delete in Completed also moves a recording's screen and camera layers to the trash.
    • On Linux ClipHearth says when the graphics card has no driver, and the update window runs smoothly.
    • On 32-bit Windows a 4K screen recording with zooms or a camera is saved with its layers.
    • Join gives a clip without sound silence, so the other clips keep theirs. Join with more clips asks before it leaves your changes in the Editor.
    • Files that wait in a watched folder during the trial are offered again after ClipHearth starts.
    • When a monitoring or debugging tool stops a task, ClipHearth says what it found and what helps, and no longer offers a license.
    • The welcome shows Start at sign-in as a switch. On a Mac, ClipHearth opened straight from the disk image leaves it as it is.
    • A screenshot link from a web page opens the screenshot picker and never takes the screen by itself.
  2. 1.7.6public release

    • Save and restart in Settings starts ClipHearth again in the language you chose. On a Mac it stayed without a window and did not start again.
    • Stop and quit, while work runs, and Quit at a required update close ClipHearth properly.
  3. 1.7.5public release

    • ClipHearth speaks Czech, German, French, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, Italian and Polish. Pick the language when ClipHearth starts for the first time, or later in Settings.
    • Edit by text finds every word to within a few hundredths of a second. A struck word no longer takes the end of the word before it, in Korean, English and every other language.
    • Edit by text shows every sentence of Japanese and Chinese speech. A sentence with a rarer character was left out before.
    • Korean subtitles keep the space between two sentences that share one subtitle.
    • A scrolling screenshot takes a long page or window while you scroll and joins it into one picture.
    • The Marks row of the Editor puts an arrow, a box, a circle, a numbered step, a spotlight, a blur or a pixelation over part of the video.
    • Cover private details finds e-mails, phone numbers, card numbers and keys in a screenshot and pixelates them. The picture is read on your computer, and anything it misses can be covered by hand.
    • Behind me can blur your room while you record with the camera.
    • Join can take only a part of each clip, and Join with more clips starts a join from the file open in the Editor.
    • A recording can keep the way of the pointer and the shortcuts you pressed. A zoom in the Editor can follow the pointer, and the shortcuts show as text.
    • Downloads can be paused and resumed later.
    • The Converter can watch a folder and convert every new file that appears in it.
    • Opening a file in the Editor no longer plays a moment of it.
    • Texts about AI subtitles name the file kinds you chose, and a GIF that cannot get under its size limit says so in Completed.
  4. 1.7.4public release

    • The Editor lays out a screen recording with its camera part by part. On the timeline's Layout row the camera sits in the corner, fills the picture, stands side by side with the screen or leaves for a while, and each change fades over.
    • The Text row of the timeline puts words, a title card or a picture over part of the video. Each one fades or slides in and out, and the preview shows it as the export will.
    • Behind me sets what is behind you in a recording with the camera, also after recording. Keep the room as recorded, or put the screen, a picture or the room blurred behind you. Nothing leaves your computer.
    • Join can fade the clips into each other or go through black between them.
    • Chapters go on the timeline, and a file's own chapters come along. The export keeps them in their places after every cut, and Copy for YouTube copies them in YouTube's format.
    • Zooms are blocks on the timeline. Each one zooms in, moves on to more places quickly or gliding, and zooms out again.
    • A screen recording with zooms or a camera keeps its screen and its camera beside the video. The Editor opens it with them, so the zooms and the camera can still be changed.
    • AI subtitles save .srt, .vtt or both, and the words as text in .txt or .md. Words it should know helps them spell names and terms.
    • Even out the loudness has three targets, Podcast, Video sites and Broadcast. The Editor can also save in H.265, which keeps the quality in a smaller file.
    • Music added in the Editor goes quieter under the speech by itself, and you choose how much.
    • The Editor exports an App Store preview at Apple's size and a GIF that stays under the size you set. Fast trim without re-encoding saves a trimmed part in seconds.
    • Settings can name an edited or a converted file after your own pattern, with its name, its number in a batch and the date.
    • Record a stream at a set time records a radio programme or a live broadcast on its own, once, every day, on weekdays or every week.
    • On Windows with Intel graphics, a video that had dropped frames came out with some frames up to a second late. Every frame now stays in place.
    • On 32-bit Windows a live broadcast with a picture can be recorded again, music that plays on over the cuts no longer stops the export, and MKV and WebM files keep their sound exactly in place.
    • The Converter keeps a sound track that starts after the picture exactly in its place in MP4 and MOV.
  5. 1.7.3public release

    • ClipHearth's video player lists a video's sound tracks. Pick one of them, or All tracks to hear them together. A screen recording with its sounds on separate tracks plays with all of them.
    • Each sound on its own track now puts the mix of both first, then the computer sound and the microphone. Other players and video sites play only the first track, so they now play the whole sound. Before, they played the computer sound without your voice.
    • Edit by text and the captions now listen to the microphone's track when the file has one, as Remove silence does. AI subtitles do the same, and for a file with more sound tracks you can pick the track to listen to.
    • The Converter keeps every sound track and the chapters in MP4, MOV and MKV, with the names and languages of the tracks and the titles of the chapters. It still removes the file's own details such as the place and the date.
    • Every cut and trim in the Editor lands on the picture's own frames, also in a video that dropped frames. Exports of TS, MPG and FLV files keep every frame in place. Before, their picture could come 12 milliseconds late or lose its first frames.
    • The sound is cut exactly at every cut, also with hundreds of cuts. Before, a little of a cut word could still be heard.
    • A paused video in the Editor shows exactly the frame where it stopped, in every format.
    • Right after play, a pause or a jump, the Editor's preview and the video player have their sound exactly with the picture. Before, it could be off by up to 12 milliseconds for a moment.
    • The Editor's preview and the video player keep the right time in TS, MPG, MP3 and other formats. Before, a TS file could play its sound ahead of its picture.
    • Join puts the frames and the sound of every clip exactly in place.
    • On 32-bit Windows, a WebM made by the Editor, the Converter or a screen recording has its picture exactly with the sound. Before, the picture came 6.5 milliseconds late.
  6. 1.7.2public release

    • The Editor shows every sound track on a timeline under the video, each with its waveform. A screen recording with its sounds on separate tracks opens with the computer sound and the microphone as tracks of their own.
    • Each track has its own volume, can be muted, moved in hundredths of a second to fix its sync, cleaned of background noise or set to lower the other tracks while it plays. Pieces of a track can be split with S, moved, trimmed at their ends, faded and deleted.
    • Record adds a voice track with the microphone from the play position. With a voice track selected it records over what that track has there, so a sentence can be said again.
    • A sound file added in the Editor gets a track of its own at the play position and plays on over the cuts.
    • The Editor can cut a part out of the middle of a video. Press Start a cut here where the part starts and again where it ends, or press X while it plays. The preview skips the parts you cut, and each one can be brought back.
    • The Editor has keyboard shortcuts. Space or K plays and pauses, J and L jump 5 seconds, the arrow keys step one frame and with Shift one second, Home and End go to the start and the end, and I and O set the trim.
    • The Editor's preview plays all tracks together, mixed the way the export mixes them, and shows a video in its real shape.
    • Tracks that are loud together no longer crackle. The sound is lowered only at the moments it would go over the top.
    • When the Editor slows a video down or speeds it up, every sound starts exactly with its picture, and voices and music keep their pitch.
    • Picture and sound stay exactly together after cuts, with background noise reduction, in the Editor's preview and in ClipHearth's player on Windows and on a Mac, and in screen recordings, also when the computer is busy.
    • On a Mac, a screen recording now has the sound of ClipHearth's own player and of the Editor's preview, and a recording resumed on a still screen keeps its sound from the moment you resume. If you moved Microphone timing earlier to make up for the built-in microphone, press its Reset.
    • In .ts, .mts and .m2ts videos the Editor's play position now matches the picture, so trims, cuts and a recorded voice land where you saw them.
  7. 1.7.1public release

    • A shared box shows one button for all its computers. Click it to see a map of how this computer reaches each of the others, over the local network, the internet or the relay server.
    • Texts up to 1 MB and pictures up to 20 MB come into a shared box by themselves. Files from other computers wait until you click Get, and the box's settings can make them come by themselves again. You can stop an item that is still coming.
    • Before an item comes, ClipHearth checks that the disk has room for it and tells you how much it needs.
    • A new password for a shared box or its lock shows whether it is recommended. A password can have up to 64 characters.
    • Wrong passwords that someone else tries no longer lock a shared box for everyone.
    • Locking a shared box also changes this computer's access to it on the server.
    • Large pictures in a locked shared box show their preview again.
    • On Windows, shared boxes are kept on this computer only and no longer travel with a roaming user profile. If two computers share one roaming profile, the second one has to join its boxes again.
    • ClipHearth tells you when this computer's clock is wrong and shows the right time. A wrong clock stops shared boxes from connecting.
    • A license key can activate as many computers as it was bought for. A computer that support removed from a license comes back only through support.
  8. 1.7.0public release

    • The computer that created a shared box is its admin, marked with a crown. Only the admin changes the password, takes other computers out, changes how long the box is kept and deletes it. The admin can hand the role to another computer, and anyone can leave.
    • When the admin changes the password, the other computers can stay, or all of them or the ones you choose leave the box. The box shows a line for everyone when the password changes, a computer is taken out or another computer becomes the admin.
    • The bar of a shared box shows how this computer reaches each of the others, over the local network, the internet or the relay server, and how much of this month's relay allowance is used.
    • Locking a shared box closes it at once, and a locked box opens only with its password, from its card or its padlock. Files you put in a box with a lock are kept in it encrypted while the files themselves stay where they are, so a box on one computer works as a safe.
    • On Linux with Wayland, Screen recording works with a preview. The system asks which screen or window to share, and you choose whether the recording indicator stays on screen.
    • On GNOME with Wayland, a screenshot of the whole screen works.
    • AI subtitles keep the video's picture in the list, the finished file shows in Completed, and you can choose its name.
  9. 1.6.12prerelease beta

    • When two computers in a shared box cannot connect directly, items go through a relay server. Each license can use it for 20 GB a month, and direct connections have no limit. The box's settings show how much is used, and an item that would not fit waits for a direct connection. The relay server can also fill up for everyone before the month ends, and items then go only directly.
    • A shared box can be locked with a password on one computer. Everything the box keeps on that computer is then encrypted, and nobody can open it there without the password. The other computers in the box are not affected. A locked box sends and receives nothing until you unlock it, and it locks again when you choose Lock now or quit ClipHearth.
    • A computer whose clock is wrong keeps its license. The license window says how far off the clock is.
    • The update window keeps ClipHearth's colours until the new version starts.
  10. 1.6.11prerelease beta

    • Every window has the same look now, with the same buttons, fields and colours in the light and the dark theme.
    • Sizes, dates and speeds look the same on every computer, also when the system uses another language.
    • On Windows and Linux a click beside a window closes it too, as it does on the Mac.
    • A window over the main window comes back in front of it after ClipHearth was minimized or hidden in the tray.
    • ClipHearth uses much less memory while it waits in the tray.
    • When two computers in a shared box cannot reach each other directly, the relay server that carries the items needs a license. When the relay server is busy, the shared box says so.
    • ClipHearth checks its own installation more thoroughly. A damaged file is restored at the next start.
  11. 1.6.10prerelease beta

    • ClipHearth opens on the new Home. Paste a link to download it, or go straight to the browser, a recording, a screenshot or the Editor. Your latest files are right below.
    • New installations start with a short welcome. It shows what ClipHearth does, the Terms of Use and where to begin.
    • The browser has its own start page and a new look. Tabs sit on top, the address bar is easier to read, and the Download button has its own place beside it.
    • Saved pages and your browsing history are in one window, with one search for both.
    • The Queue shows running and waiting jobs as large cards, the waiting ones numbered. Finished jobs go straight to Completed. Drop a link or a file anywhere on an empty Queue.
    • The sidebar shows what is happening, such as the Queue at work, new videos and a recording's time. Your license and version are at the bottom, and the collapsed sidebar names every section.
    • Following has a new look, with your channels on the left and their new videos on the right. You can look at a channel before you follow it. In the trial each download uses one task.
    • Every computer in a shared box needs a license. Each computer can be in up to 3 boxes, and the license that created a box can delete it without the password.
    • Settings are easier to find. The sections are in a menu on the left, every setting has a short explanation, and you can search them.
    • Contact us has a new look. Pick what your message is about and see exactly what is sent with it.
    • ClipHearth's windows stand out from the main window, which blurs behind them. A click beside a window closes it, unless something in it would be lost.
    • Clearer texts throughout the app.
  12. 1.6.9public release

    • Shelf is now called Shared box. It passes texts, pictures and files between all your computers and the people you share it with. The Terms of Use now say shared box too, so ClipHearth asks you to accept them once more.
    • The shared box shows how fast an item is coming in. The speed is averaged over a few seconds, as it is for downloads, so it does not jump around.
    • Screen recordings up to 3 minutes are free, also without a license and after the trial. A longer recording uses one task when it passes 3 minutes. When none is left, it stops at 3:00 and is saved, so nothing is lost. Saving an instant replay longer than 3 minutes uses one task, otherwise its last 3 minutes are saved.
    • Notifications come from ClipHearth, with its name and icon. On Windows and a Mac, clicking one brings ClipHearth up. Until now they showed as Windows PowerShell and Script Editor.
    • Pop-up windows are safer. A window a page opens (a sign-in or a payment, for example) can send messages only to the page that opened it, and a page cannot pretend to be another site.
    • Cookies a site marked as secure are never sent over an unencrypted connection. When a stream's http address leads to https, ClipHearth downloads it over https.
    • Following sends a site's cookies only to the site they belong to, and a video on your own network (a router or a NAS, for example) waits for your click.
    • Fixed: on Windows, a notification whose text contained a typographic apostrophe (as in Don’t) never appeared.
  13. 1.6.8public release

    • On Windows and Linux, an update replaces only ClipHearth's own files. Anything else in its folder, such as files of your own, stays exactly as it was. If an update is interrupted, the next one first puts everything back as it was.
    • Before it downloads an update, ClipHearth checks that the disk has room for it. A full disk is reported as such, and nothing is changed.
    • If a download, a recording or a screenshot starts while an update is downloading, ClipHearth asks about it again before it closes.
    • Pages sent from the browser while ClipHearth updates are not taken. The update window tells you, so you can send the page again once ClipHearth is back.
    • On Windows, an installation for everyone on the computer asks for permission in front of the update window, only for the moment the files are replaced. Windows' list of apps shows the new version after an update.
    • On a Mac, the old and the new version are swapped in one step, so an interrupted update can no longer leave ClipHearth missing.
    • On Linux, if a system upgrade switched off ClipHearth's package source, the Updates window says so and tells you where to switch it back on.
    • The update window closes as soon as ClipHearth has started, and the update's files are removed right away instead of at the next start.
    • The Windows installer has a new look in ClipHearth's colours. If ClipHearth was installed for everyone on the computer, that copy is removed only after you click Install, so cancelling the installer changes nothing.
    • Uninstalling ClipHearth on Windows also removes the files that updates added and starting at sign-in.
    • Clearer messages when an update cannot be downloaded or installed.
  14. 1.6.7public release

    • Updating shows everything in one window. When you press Update now, a window comes up straight away and shows the download, the preparation, the install and the check. Press Start at the end to open the updated ClipHearth.
    • Before it closes for an update, ClipHearth asks about downloads, recordings or screenshots that are still open. Closing the update window during the download cancels the update and changes nothing.
    • ClipHearth also looks for updates while it runs in the tray, every few hours, and tells you when a new version is ready.
    • If an update cannot be installed on this computer, the next start offers Later, so you can keep working with the version you have.
    • On Windows, ClipHearth now installs for your account only, so neither installing nor updating asks for an administrator. If an earlier version was installed for everyone on the computer, the new installer removes that copy first and Windows asks for permission one last time.
    • On Linux, the .deb package updates through the system's own software service, the same way Ubuntu's Software Updater works. It asks for a password only where your system requires one.
    • Only one ClipHearth runs at a time. Starting it again brings the running one to the front, also during an update, and starting a newer version replaces the older one.
    • Fixed: an update could fail with "Could not load file or assembly" when a second copy of ClipHearth had been opened while the first one sat in the tray.
    • Fixed: on Windows, an update replaced ClipHearth's files one by one instead of all at once, so an interrupted update could leave a mix of old and new files.
  15. 1.6.2public release

    • Shelf now tries your local network first, then the internet, and uses a relay server only when neither works.
    • Fixed: on a Windows PC with extra network adapters (from Hyper-V, VMware or Bluetooth), Shelf used the relay server even when the other computer was in the same room.
    • If Windows Firewall blocks a computer on your own network, Shelf offers to allow ClipHearth on your local network. Windows asks for administrator permission once.
    • Fixed: ClipHearth closed when you pasted a picture copied from the shelf.
    • Shelf looks tidier. Items appear as bubbles, yours on the right, and Show all opens a long text in full.
    • Each computer shows how it is connected (local network, internet or relay server) and how it connected last time.
    • Press Enter to create or join a shelf.
    • Removed: the clipboard shortcut, and copying received text to the clipboard by itself.
  16. 1.6.1public release

    • Fixed: computers whose license was activated with an older ClipHearth were told that creating a shelf needs an active license.
    • In Shelf, the Computers card shows whether each computer is connected directly or through a relay server.
  17. 1.6.0public release

    • New Screenshots section: capture an area, a window or the whole screen, also in games, with any key you like (Print Screen alone works too).
    • Copy the text out of anything on the screen, or pick a colour.
    • Mark up a capture with arrows, boxes, text, numbered steps, blur, a spotlight or cropping. Pin it over every window, or drag the thumbnail in the corner straight into a chat.
    • Find any capture later by the words in it. Everything happens on your computer, and screenshots never count as a trial task.
    • New Shelf section: send texts, pictures, screenshots, recordings and any file between your computers, or to someone you share a shelf with.
    • Everything goes straight from one computer to the other, encrypted end to end. The ClipHearth server only introduces the computers and never sees what you send.
    • To start, choose a shelf ID and a password and join it on the other computer. Then paste (Ctrl+V or ⌘V), drop a file or press Send. Creating a shelf needs a license. Joining one is free.
    • Send to a shelf from the screenshot thumbnail, from Completed, from the tray icon's menu, or with a shortcut that sends your clipboard. Text you send can land straight on the other computer's clipboard.
    • Closing the window now keeps ClipHearth running in the tray (the menu bar on macOS), so the shortcuts always work. To quit, use the icon's menu.
    • ClipHearth starts with your computer. You can turn this off in Settings.
    • The Terms of Use now cover Shelf, so ClipHearth asks you to accept them again.
  18. 1.5.3public release

    • Remove the background behind you without a green screen. ClipHearth finds you in the camera picture and takes the rest away, in the preview and in the recording.
    • Behind you, the screen shows through, or a picture of your choice. It all happens on your computer and nothing leaves it.
    • 32-bit Windows still needs a green or blue cloth.
    • The recording indicator stays in its corner when Pause and Stop appear or when you pause.
    • On macOS, clicking the Dock icon brings back a minimized ClipHearth.
    • On macOS, Allow… for Screen Recording, the camera and the microphone opens the right page of System Settings again.
    • The bottom of the sidebar takes half the space, with Settings, Updates, Contact and About side by side as tiles.
    • An empty Queue now helps you start. Paste a link from any site, or open the browser, screen recording or the Editor.
    • The sidebar groups its sections under Download and Create & edit, and shows how many items are running and done next to Queue and Completed.
    • Completed fits three times as many files. Each file is one row, with Play and icons for the other actions.
    • The Convertor is now called the Converter.
  19. 1.5.2public release

    • New Screen recording section: record a display, a window, an area of the screen or a game, with the computer's sound, your microphone and your camera in a corner.
    • Pause and resume, mark chapters, start with a countdown and use shortcuts that work in any program. The recording indicator is visible only to you.
    • Schedule a start, or keep an instant replay of the last minutes and save it with a key.
    • Test 5 s records a short sample and tells you what is wrong (a black picture, a silent microphone, a missing permission) before you record for an hour.
    • Recordings are finished in the Queue like an export, with the camera in its shape, a watermark, the time code, highlighted clicks and zooming in on them. They can be split into parts, fitted to a file size, or saved as just the sound in MP3, M4A, FLAC or WAV.
    • Finished recordings show in Completed as Recorded, ready for the Editor or AI subtitles.
    • If ClipHearth could not save a recording (after a crash or a power cut), it offers it again at the next start and nothing is lost.
    • Record a voice-over in the Editor while the video plays. The original sound gets quieter under your voice, and the voice-over follows your cuts and speed changes.
    • macOS asks for permission to record the screen and to use the microphone and the camera the first time.
    • On Linux with Wayland, only the computer's sound can be recorded for now. Recording the screen needs an Xorg session.
  20. 1.5.1public release

    • New Following section: follow a channel, a playlist or a podcast, and ClipHearth checks for new episodes every few hours while it runs and downloads them into a folder named after it.
    • Press Follow in a playlist's window or on the bar of a copied link, or paste the address into Following.
    • With a license, new videos download by themselves. In the trial, they wait for a click.
    • Fit into a file size: the Convertor keeps a file under the size you choose (10, 25, 50 MB or any other), for chats and e-mails with a limit.
    • To fit, a video is converted twice, and a long video in a small size also gets a lower resolution.
    • Split into parts: the Editor saves an export as several files, every few minutes, in equal parts, or at marks you set while playing. Each part starts on the right frame, with captions, watermark and sound in place.
    • Time code: show the running time in a corner of the picture, with seconds, milliseconds or frames.
    • Steady a shaky picture: the Editor measures how the camera shook and smooths it out.
    • Tags & cover for sound files in Completed: set the title, artist, album, year and the cover picture music players show, without changing the sound.
    • Sound you download from a site gets its title, its channel and the video's picture as the cover by itself.
    • When everything is done: the Queue can quit ClipHearth, put the computer to sleep or shut it down after the last job, with a minute to cancel.
    • The speed limit in Settings now applies to all downloads together, from any site. Live recordings keep the speed of the broadcast.
    • On Linux, the window is drawn by the graphics card, so playing, scrolling and the preview are smooth and easy on the processor.
    • On Ubuntu 22.04 and 24.04 and Debian 12, the graphics card now helps with converting too, and conversions and the Editor no longer freeze.
    • A download's progress bar no longer fills up before the download starts or jumps back.
    • Every wait shows the same new animation.
    • On macOS, the application menu has About ClipHearth and Settings.
  21. 1.5.0public release

    • Edit by text: the Editor writes down what is said in the video, on your computer, and you cut the video like a document. Strike out words or sentences and they are gone from the video. Needs a license.
    • "Cut ehm, hmm..." takes out the filler sounds in one go, and every cut falls into the quiet between words.
    • Social media captions: big captions of what is said, burned into the picture, with the word being said lit up. Needs a license.
    • Pick one of four looks (Bold, Box, Pop and Clean), your own colours, how many words show at a time, the size and the place, which you drag on the preview. Captions follow your cuts, crop and speed.
    • Format: one click makes a video 9:16, 1:1, 4:5 or 16:9. Crop it to the shape, or keep the whole picture on a blurred copy of itself or between black bars.
    • The Editor tells you when a video is longer than short-video apps allow.
    • The Editor's sections are now tabs (Cut, Format, Captions, Effects, Sound and Export), and a dot marks the tabs where something is set.
    • Copy a video link anywhere and ClipHearth offers to download it when you come back. Pick the quality right away, choose videos from a playlist, or open the page in the browser. You can turn this off in Settings.
    • ClipHearth works with its browser extension for Chrome, Edge and Firefox, coming to the browser stores. One click on a page with a video opens the quality choice in ClipHearth.
    • The quality choice shows the video's title, waits until every search has finished, and opens the tab with the best quality by itself.
  22. 1.4.8public release

    • Watermark: put a logo or a line of text over the picture in the Editor. Place it in a corner or the middle, or drag it anywhere on the preview, and set its size, transparency and text colour. You see it live in the preview.
    • Add a sound file under the video's sound or in its place, for music under speech, a new voice-over, or a sound track for joined clips.
    • If the sound file is longer or shorter than the picture, the Editor tells you and offers to cut it, repeat it, hold the last frame until it ends, or end the video with it.
    • Clean-up in the Editor: deinterlace, soften grain, sharpen the picture and take the hiss out of the sound. Click any slider's value to type an exact one.
    • Apply to more files: Review & export takes more files and exports each one with the same changes, as a job of its own.
    • Joined clips can get a sound track and a watermark of their own.
    • The Editor also saves WebM, M4A, FLAC and OGG.
    • On macOS, the app is called ClipHearth in the Dock, the application menu and Activity Monitor, as it should be.
  23. 1.4.7public release

    • Windows: version 1.4.5 reported a wrong version number (14.51.36247.0) and so never got updates. This release fixes the number, and computers stuck on 1.4.5 update to it by themselves.
    • If ClipHearth reports a version newer than the newest release, the Updates window now says so and offers the current release instead of waiting for an update that never comes.
  24. 1.4.6public release

    • The Editor works in steps. First Sound, then Picture, then Review & export, which lists exactly what the export will do.
    • Adjust the picture right on the preview. Drag the crop frame and the zoom window, and see rotation, mirroring, black and white and colours change live. Exact values are a click away.
    • Zoom & pan: enlarge part of the picture and let the view glide between keyframes, like in an app demo made from a screen recording.
    • Portrait videos from a phone keep their orientation in the crop, the zoom and the export.
    • The Convertor shows every file of a batch before it starts, with what is copied and what is converted again, what happens to subtitles, the file name, the expected size and which files it will skip.
    • Downloaded is now Completed and holds everything ClipHearth finishes, from downloads and recordings to edits and conversions. Each item shows what made it and what was done to it, with details on a click and filters above the list.
    • Jobs is now the Queue.
    • The Queue shows the real speed and time left. Large downloads no longer show a fraction of their speed, and the numbers no longer jump around.
    • Security: when a download uses your browser's cookies, each cookie now goes only to the site it belongs to, even when the download is sent on to another address.
  25. 1.4.5public release

    • AI subtitles and translation now come with every license. ClipHearth writes subtitles from what is said in a video and translates them, all on your computer.
    • Fixed: on some Linux computers, the built-in player showed jagged colour edges and a green stripe along the bottom.
  26. 1.4.4prerelease beta

    • The browser finds videos more reliably. It waits for the real video instead of the ad before it, notices when a page switches to another video, and offers Download or Record only once it knows whether the video is live.
    • Videos in players embedded in a page are found without searching again.
    • Converting, trimming and burning subtitles into a video now use the graphics card on Windows (NVIDIA, Intel and AMD) and Linux, as on the Mac. The Convertor does too.
    • When the graphics card cannot do it, the processor takes over by itself.
    • AI subtitles now use the graphics card on Windows and Linux too, which is much faster than the processor.
    • AI subtitles say clearly that everything runs on your computer. Downloading a model shows as the second step of a job, with just its progress.
    • On Linux, the first page the browser opens no longer stays empty.
  27. 1.4.3prerelease beta

    • Subtitles are simpler. Pick the language you want and ClipHearth does the rest.
    • Subtitles the site or the video already has are used as they are, also in the free trial. Other subtitles are translated, and AI listens to the speech only when there are none.
    • Pick the AI models for each video, or set the ones every video starts with in Settings > AI subtitles.
    • A video with subtitles burned into the picture gets its own row in Downloaded and is much smaller than before.
    • The built-in player shows subtitles added to a video.
    • Drop files onto the Convertor, the Editor or AI subtitles to open them there. Several clips dropped onto the Editor open Join multiple clips.
    • Downloaded and Jobs show when an item finished or failed.
    • The Download buttons in the quality choice no longer flicker or ignore the first click.
  28. 1.4.2prerelease beta

    • AI subtitles: ClipHearth writes subtitles from what is said in a video and can translate them into other languages, all on your computer. Needs a license.
    • Settings > AI subtitles recommends the models that suit your computer and downloads them once.
    • Add subtitles while you download, right in the quality choice, or to any video on your computer from the new Subtitles page. Keep them as a track in the video, as an .srt file next to it, or in the picture itself.
    • Converting or trimming a video keeps its subtitle tracks.
    • Fixed: a video that played an ad first could show the wrong length or fail to download. Now the video itself downloads.
  29. 1.4.1public release

    • The Updates window shows the release notes as one clear list, newest version on top.
    • Sound downloads look like sound, and Downloaded shows each file's real details, like the format, length, size, and the bitrate or the resolution.
    • Move a file to the Trash right from the Downloaded list.
    • Dialogs on Windows and Linux have a visible edge.
  30. 1.4.0public release

    • Ad and tracker filters leave video players alone, so pages play the way the site intends.
    • When the free trial is used up, Download offers to buy a license or enter your key, and the download goes on as soon as the key is activated.
    • A computer that lost its license file gets its license back by itself.
    • A new detector box next to the browser tabs shows at a glance what was found and what is being recorded.
    • The browser history keeps the last 100 pages. Delete single pages or the whole history.
    • Updates are installed only when they are signed by the publisher of ClipHearth.
  31. 1.3.9public release

    • On macOS, ClipHearth is now signed and checked by Apple, so it opens straight away without the security warning on first launch.
  32. 1.3.8public release

    • The first public release of ClipHearth for Windows, macOS and Linux.
    • Open a page in the built-in browser and ClipHearth finds the video, live stream or radio on it. Download it, record it as it plays, convert it to another format or trim it in the editor.
  33. 1.3.7public release

    • The first public release of ClipHearth for Windows, macOS, and Linux. Open a page in the built-in browser and ClipHearth finds the video, live stream, or radio on it: download it, record it as it plays, convert it to another format, or trim it in the Editor.
    • Linux: the built-in browser draws on real desktops, takes keyboard and mouse input after a click, and keeps running on NVIDIA drivers; a page renderer that stops reloads itself.
    • Linux: the video player falls back to software decoding and tells you when the picture would stay black, and streams that are not live are no longer reported as live.
    • Less CPU use on software rendering: no endlessly animated progress bars.
    • The quality picker no longer shows internal format numbers as quality names.
  34. 1.3.6prerelease beta

    • Linux: the .deb package installs on Ubuntu 26.04 and other current distributions. Version 1.3.5 refused to install there because one system library was required in too narrow a range of versions.
    • Linux: after installation the software centre shows ClipHearth with its icon, name and publisher.
  35. 1.3.5prerelease beta

    • Linux: ClipHearth comes as a .deb package for Debian, Ubuntu and Mint. It installs everything the app needs and registers the ClipHearth package repository, so updates arrive through the system's package manager; the Updates window starts that update for you and asks for your password once.
    • Linux: the built-in browser works on Ubuntu 24.04, Linux Mint 22 and Debian 13, which ship WebKitGTK only in its newer 4.1 build. Until now the browser section was empty there.
    • Windows: the installer sets up the Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime when a computer does not have it, so the built-in browser works on a fresh Windows 10 as well.
  36. 1.3.0prerelease beta

    • Signing in to a website with a third-party account works on every site: the sign-in window a page opens is a real browser window in a tab of its own, and it closes itself once the sign-in is done.
    • The browser's top bar takes less room: two rows, tabs of one width with small arrows when they overflow, and the stream tools shrink to their buttons. The recording counter no longer pushes the tabs around, and Record and Stop react at once, showing Starting… and Saving….
    • The address bar suggests pages from the first typed letter, puts a site's front page first and no longer lists sign-in pages or addresses that merely mention what you typed.
    • Human-verification checks ("I'm not a robot") work in the browser again.
    • Fixed a crash after closing a tab whose video was still playing; the sound now stops with the tab.
    • Live recordings no longer show a "queued" notice; the Recording label is the status.
    • The browser's ad filter uses the same public filter lists as popular ad blockers (EasyList, EasyPrivacy and regional lists): ads are refused before they load, and the empty slots they leave behind are hidden. Two new switches in Settings: Block trackers and Hide cookie consent prompts.
    • Editor: the preview shows the first frame as soon as a file opens, and dragging the time slider shows the frame at that position without pressing Play.
  37. 1.2.4prerelease beta

    • Internet radio is detected far more reliably, including players that hide their audio element or swap the stream in later, stations that answer a size check with a single byte, and mounts named after their bitrate.
    • When a page ranks its advertising clip above the stream it is really playing, the detector now takes the first candidate that qualifies.
    • Video fullscreen works on every site again and shows just the video with the player's own controls. Escape or the player's own button brings the page back.
    • Monthly subscribers can move to a lifetime license from the License window. The lifetime license starts when the paid month ends; nothing is refunded and nothing is charged again.
    • The Renew link in the License window carries your license reference again.
    • New icons, and an Open-source licences window in Settings › About.
  38. 1.2.2prerelease beta

    • Fixed a crash on macOS: a page whose advertising scripts navigated away could take ClipHearth down the moment the ad was refused. Present since 1.1.8; radio and news sites were the usual trigger.
  39. 1.2.1prerelease beta

    • Sound is detected on its own now: pages that play MP3, AAC, FLAC, or OGG files, sound-only HLS and DASH streams, and music or podcast sites show "Audio detected" with a Download Audio button.
    • Internet radio can be recorded: a live audio stream shows "Live audio detected", and Record Audio saves it as an MP3, AAC, or OGG file until you click Stop and Save.
    • Audio files are saved in their original format, without re-encoding. The audio format in Settings still applies when pulling the soundtrack out of a video.
    • The jobs list labels sound-only jobs as Audio Download and Live Audio.
  40. 1.2.0prerelease beta

    • New monthly subscription alongside the lifetime license. Open License in the side menu to see your plan and the days left, extend a subscription, or buy a license.
    • Your license is re-checked with the activation server once a day, so a subscription renewed on the web is picked up automatically.
    • New Windows installs use a regular setup program. The first start after updating takes a little longer while ClipHearth unpacks itself.
    • Windows 7 and 8.1 are no longer supported; Windows 10 or 11 is required.
  41. 1.1.8prerelease beta

    • More reliable downloads on pages where the video plays but saving it used to fail.
    • Stalled downloads recover: a transfer that stops receiving data is resumed instead of hanging, and long downloads survive interruptions.
    • Pop-under ads that open a blank tab first are blocked, while articles and sign-in windows stay untouched.
    • The address bar runs a web search when what you typed is not an address.
    • Downloaded: Open URL opens the page a file came from.
    • Downloaded: entries that never produced a file are marked clearly and have a Try Again button.
    • The quality picker lists each quality once.
    • Closing ClipHearth while a job is running now asks first.
  42. 1.1.7prerelease beta

    • Multi-connection downloads check that every part arrived: a transfer that comes up short is retried, and one that still cannot finish is reported as an error instead of being saved.
  43. 1.1.6prerelease beta

    • Better stream and quality detection: ClipHearth reads the qualities the page's own player offers, including players embedded in frames.
    • Ads in the embedded browser are filtered, including the ad played before a video, and pages can no longer flood you with extra tabs. Sign-in windows are never affected.
    • Ad clips and short teaser previews are no longer offered as the video to download.
    • Fixed downloads failing for videos with very long titles.
  44. 1.1.1prerelease beta

    • New Contact Us button in the side menu - send a question or feedback directly from the app.
    • Fixed macOS in-app updates failing to install.
    • Your activation survives Windows updates and system changes - no more re-activation prompts.
    • More resilient license storage on Windows.
    • After an update installed with administrator permission, ClipHearth restarts as the signed-in user again.
  45. 1.1.0prerelease beta

    • New Editor: trim, color adjustments with live preview, rotate, flip, crop, resize, speed, fades, and audio tools (remove, replace, mix, volume, normalize) - with a built-in video player.
    • Editor extras: join multiple clips into one file, export animated GIFs, and save PNG snapshots of any frame.
    • Hardware-accelerated exports (Apple VideoToolbox, NVIDIA, Intel, AMD) - several times faster than before.
    • Play downloaded files inside ClipHearth and send them to the Editor or Convertor with one click.
    • Dropping a single media file asks whether to convert or edit it.
    • Playlist and channel downloads: pick the videos you want and queue them at once.
    • Subtitles option in the quality picker, embedded into the video file.
    • Download only a section of a video with a from–to time range.
    • Batch conversion: select multiple files or drop a folder into the Convertor.
    • Named conversion presets for your advanced settings.
    • Drag & drop a URL or media files anywhere in the app window.
    • System notification when a download or conversion finishes in the background.
    • Jobs show the estimated time remaining and a better file-size estimate.
    • Keyboard shortcuts: Cmd/Ctrl+L address bar, Cmd/Ctrl+T new tab, Cmd/Ctrl+W close tab, Space play/pause.
    • Search box in Downloaded to filter your library by title, file name, or site.
    • What's new list in the Updates window.
  46. 1.0.19prerelease beta

    • New Convertor wizard for local video and audio files.
    • Address bar suggestions from your history and saved addresses.
    • Pop-up ad blocking with a sign-in allowlist (Settings › Browser).
    • Settings reorganized into tabs, including a Diagnostics tab.
    • Live scan steps while detecting streams on a page.
    • Fixed a pop-up messaging loop that could freeze the app on macOS.
    • Leftover update files are removed automatically.
  47. 1.0.18prerelease beta

    • The quality picker opens in its own window, so the page stays visible.
    • Faster stream detection: scans run in parallel and results show immediately.
    • Security hardening of the application and license handling.
    • Windows installer build improvements.
