Edit a video by editing its text
ClipHearth writes down what is said, on your computer, and you cut the video like a document: strike out words or whole sentences, or every ehm and hmm in one go.
01Write down the speech
Open the video or recording in the Editor; the Cut tab has EDIT BY TEXT. Write down the speech runs the speech recognition on this computer, and the first time it downloads the model once. It is optional and comes with the license; nothing about the video or its sound leaves your computer.
02Read it and jump around
Click a word to go to that moment, drag or Shift+click to select several, and double-click a word to fix it. The line under the text counts the words and, once you cut, how much shorter the video gets.
03Strike out what should go
Select words or whole sentences and press Delete, or click Cut. They are cut from the picture and the sound together. Skip the cut parts while playing, on to start with, lets you hear the result straight away; Undo (Ctrl+Z, Cmd+Z on a Mac) takes the last change back and Keep all brings everything back.
04Take out the ehms in one go
Cut ehm, hmm... strikes every hesitation sound the speech recognition wrote down, such as ehm, hmm, or um. Ordinary words like "like" or "so" are never touched, and only the sounds it heard clearly are in the text to strike.
05Where the cuts fall
Each cut is placed in the quiet between two words, so speech does not sound chopped. If the text is in the wrong language, pick the one spoken under Spoken language and it is written down again; the cuts start over.
06Export
Done takes you back to the tabs. In Export, WHAT THE EXPORT WILL DO shows how much was struck out; subtitle tracks are dropped because they would no longer match, while big captions from the Captions tab follow the cuts. Text cuts belong to this file and are not repeated by Apply to more files. Export to Queue writes a new file.
