Zoom in on part of a video and glide between keyframes
Enlarge a part of the picture and let the view move from one part to another over time, for a tutorial or an app preview made from a screen recording.
01Open the video and go to Picture
Open the video in the Editor with Choose File or by dropping it in, and click Next to the second step, Picture. The ZOOM & PAN card is there, under the crop.
02Tick Zoom in on part of the picture
The player pauses and the first keyframe is added at the playhead, showing the whole picture. From there the view holds this keyframe until the next one.
03Set the window on the preview
Drag the window on the preview to move it, and drag a corner or scroll to zoom; the ZOOM slider goes from 1x, the whole picture, to 5x. Show result lets you see the exported picture while paused, and Done ends adjusting on the preview.
04Add keyframes along the clip
Move the playhead to where the view should have moved and click Add at playhead, then place the window again. The view glides from one keyframe to the next; with Ease in and out, on by default, each move starts and ends gently. Keyframes show as marks on the trim slider, a cross removes one, and a clip can have up to 32.
05What the export keeps
The zoom does not change the size of the video: it stays the size of your crop, or of the source when you do not crop. For a vertical version, pick 9:16 in the crop first and zoom inside it. Portrait clips from a phone keep their orientation.
06Review & export
WHAT THE EXPORT WILL DO names the zoom, for example zoom with 4 keyframes. The export is re-encoded, with the graphics card when it can, and Export to Queue writes a new file while the original stays as it was.
