Move the camera in a screen recording, and change what is behind you
Open a recording with its layers to move, resize, or hide the camera, show it alone or beside the screen part by part, and blur or replace the room behind you.
01Record with the layers kept
This works on screen recordings made in ClipHearth with the camera. Under Save, WHEN IT IS DONE has Keep zooms and the camera changeable in the Editor, on out of the box: the recording comes out finished, and a folder next to it keeps the screen and the camera apart. It takes about as much space again.
02Open the recording
Open it in the Editor from Completed or with Choose file. The Effects tab starts with the RECORDING card, which says it was opened with its layers. Keep the REC mark keeps the red recording mark when the recording had one, and Open the file as it is opens the finished recording instead, with the camera burned in. A recording that was renamed or changed in length opens as a plain file.
03Place the camera
The CAMERA card, also in Effects, has Show, a picker for where the camera sits, SIZE from 10 to 50 % of the picture's width, Rectangle, Rounded, or Circle, and Mirror. Everything starts the way it was recorded.
04Change it part by part on the Layout row
Play to where the change should start and use the CAMERA LAYOUT card in Effects: Camera only fills the picture with you, Side by side puts you next to the screen, Screen only leaves the camera out, and In the corner brings it back. Each one is a block on the Layout row under the preview, 4 seconds long or up to the next block; drag it to move it, drag its edges to change its length, and double-click the row to add another. Each change fades over 0.4 s, and everywhere else the camera sits as the CAMERA card says.
05Change what is behind you
BEHIND ME in the CAMERA card offers As recorded, The screen, A picture (with Choose picture...), and Blurred. The first time, ClipHearth finds you in the camera picture on your computer; nothing is uploaded, and until it is done the camera shows as recorded. It is done once and kept with the recording.
06Where it does not work
Recordings from other apps have no layers, and neither does a recording of the camera alone. 32-bit Windows cannot find a person in a picture, so there it needs a recording made with a green or blue cloth. A Mac recording made with Remove the background behind me has no room left to blur, so Blurred shows it as recorded; the screen or a picture still work.
07Export
WHAT THE EXPORT WILL DO says the camera is laid on, and its Camera layout row lists the blocks. Export to Queue writes a new file; the recording and its layers stay as they are.
