Send files between a Mac and a Windows PC
Put a file, a picture, or a text on a shelf and it shows up on your other computer, Mac, Windows, or Linux, encrypted end to end and with no account.
01Install ClipHearth on both computers
ClipHearth runs on Windows 10 and later, macOS 12 and later, and Linux, and Shelf works the same on all of them, so a Mac and a PC, or a PC and a Linux laptop, can share one shelf. One of the computers needs a licence to create the shelf; the other can join in the trial for free. Sending and receiving never count as a trial task.
02Create the shelf on one computer
Open Shelf, the section under Share, and press New or join. Under CREATE A SHELF, type a SHELF ID and a PASSWORD of at least 8 characters, twice; make it one nobody could guess. For your own computers, keep the shelf Until deleted. Create the shelf makes it.
03Join it on the other computer
On the other computer, open Shelf › New or join, type the same ID and password under JOIN A SHELF, and press Join the shelf. From then on both computers show the same shelf.
04Send
Drop files onto the shelf, paste a picture or files with Ctrl+V on Windows or ⌘V on a Mac, or write a text, then press Send. A file in Completed and a screenshot have Send too, and the tray icon's menu has Put the clipboard on the shelf. Texts and pictures arrive by themselves; for larger files, raise GET FILES BY ITSELF UP TO on the receiving computer, up to Any size, or press Get when they arrive. They land in the folder under RECEIVED FILES GO TO.
05In the same room or far apart
At home or in the office the computers connect over your local network; elsewhere they connect over the internet, and only when neither works does Cloudflare's relay pass the data on. It is encrypted end to end either way, and the ClipHearth server only introduces the computers: the files never touch it. The COMPUTERS card shows how each computer is connected. If Windows Firewall blocks the other computer on your own network, the shelf offers Allow on the local network.
06Keep both computers on
An item travels while both computers are on. ClipHearth stays in the tray (the menu bar on a Mac) and starts with the computer, so something sent to a sleeping laptop goes as soon as it is on again.
