Output folder, parallel jobs, and speed limit

Where your files are saved, how many jobs run at once, and how much of your connection downloads may use.

  1. 01Open the Downloads tab

    Click Settings in the sidebar. Everything on this page is on the Downloads tab, and nothing changes until you press Save.

  2. 02Choose the output folder

    OUTPUT FOLDER is where downloads, recordings, conversions, and Editor exports are saved. Out of the box it is a ClipHearth folder inside Videos in your home folder, or inside Movies on a Mac. Browse picks another one. Files you already have stay where they are.

  3. 03Set how many jobs run at once

    MAX PARALLEL DOWNLOADS takes a number from 1 to 8, and the default is 2. Anything above it waits and starts on its own when a slot frees up; the QUEUE counter at the top of the sidebar shows how many jobs are waiting. Conversions and Editor exports run at most two at a time, because they keep the processor busy.

  4. 04Count your live recordings

    A live stream or a radio station you record takes one of those slots for as long as it runs, because it only ends when you click Stop and Save. With the default of 2 and one station recording, one slot is left for everything else, so raise the number if you record often.

  5. 05Limit the speed

    TOTAL SPEED LIMIT (KB/S) caps how fast downloads may pull data, shared across all of them, so everyone else on your connection keeps a usable share. 1000 KB/s is roughly 8 Mbit/s; leave the field blank for no limit. It applies to media that is a single file on the server, such as a plain MP4 or MP3, and to downloads that start after you save. Streams that arrive in small segments and live recordings come at the pace the site sends them.

  6. 06Open the folder or get a notification

    Tick Open the output folder when a download finishes and the folder opens as soon as a download is done. Show a system notification when a download or conversion finishes is on by default. To find one file later, use the Folder button next to it in Downloaded.
