Change the language of ClipHearth
ClipHearth speaks English, Czech, German, French, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, Italian, and Polish. Pick one at first start or in Settings › General.
01Eight languages, English if yours is not one
The list names every language in its own words: English, Čeština, Deutsch, Español, Français, Italiano, Polski, and Português (Brasil). Out of the box ClipHearth starts in your system's language when it is one of these, and in English otherwise. A system set to Portuguese gets Brazilian Portuguese. The language you choose is kept on this computer and is not sent anywhere.
02At the first start
The first step of the welcome, the one with Get started, has the language list at the top, beside the ClipHearth name. Pick a language and the welcome opens again in it straight away, so the next steps are in that language too. ClipHearth keeps the choice for every start after that.
03Later, in Settings › General
Click Settings at the bottom of the sidebar and choose General, the first section in the menu on the left. Under LANGUAGE, Language of ClipHearth lists As the system first, with your system's language in brackets, and then each language. As the system follows the system's language every time ClipHearth starts.
04Save and restart
A new language shows after a restart. Once you pick one, a line below names it next to a Save and restart button: ClipHearth saves your settings, closes, and starts again in the language you chose. Save on its own keeps the choice for the next time you start ClipHearth. While anything runs or waits in the Queue, or a recording is going, the button is not available and the line asks you to restart once the work is done, so nothing is cut off. In 1.7.5, Save and restart on a Mac left ClipHearth without a window instead of starting it again; 1.7.6 fixed that.
05What changes with it
The windows, buttons, messages, and notifications of ClipHearth are in the language you chose, with the exceptions below. Numbers, file sizes, and dates are written the way that language writes them, not the way your system is set: in Czech a size reads 1,17 GB. Lines already in Completed keep the language they were made in, and new ones follow the new language.
06What stays in English
The full Terms of Use you accept at the first start stay in English in every language, and so do the Privacy Policy, the Refund Policy, and the open-source licenses linked below them. The short version shown above the Terms is translated. The notes on what is new in each version, in the Updates window, are in English too, and so is the ClipHearth browser extension.
07These guides are in English
The guides on this website and their pictures show ClipHearth in English and name its buttons in English. In another language every button and card sits in the same place, only its words are translated. To follow a guide word for word, you can switch ClipHearth to English for a while and back again afterwards.
