Put videos side by side in a collage, or add a title card
Make a collage video with two to four clips or photos side by side, let pictures take turns in its cells, or put a title card between the clips.
01Add a collage
With a video or pictures open in the Studio, or in an Empty project, click Collage under PICTURE on the Add rail and choose two to four videos or pictures. The collage becomes a part of the Video row of its own, after the part you picked, else at the edge between parts nearest the play position, and its page opens. Two files sit Side by side (Stacked in a tall video), three as One and two, four as Four. It lasts as long as its longest video, a minute at most, else five seconds. Use videos and pictures you own or are authorized to use.
02More than four files take turns
Choose more than four files and the extra ones take turns in the cells, shared out in order: the fifth comes into the first cell after its first file, the sixth into the second, and so on. When only pictures take turns, the collage is long enough for each of them to show once.
03Layout, gap, and what is behind the cells
The COLLAGE card comes first on the page. LAYOUT offers Side by side, Stacked, One and two, and Four; a layout with fewer cells keeps the files of the others and brings them back when you pick a larger one. GAP is None, Thin, or Wide. BEHIND THE CELLS is what shows in the gaps and where a picture shown whole leaves room: A colour, with Black, White, Slate, Cream, and Blue, or Blurred, which is the first cell enlarged and blurred.
04Arrange the cells on the preview
While the collage is picked, the preview outlines and numbers its cells. Drag a cell, by its tab or from anywhere in it, to move it with its files and its sound, and the other cells make way while you drag. Click a cell to open its page; there, dragging the picture in the cell chooses which part of the file fills it.
05Change the layout while it plays
A collage can show another layout from a point on. Put the play position there and click Change the layout here in the COLLAGE card. LAYOUT CHANGES lists every change with the moment it starts (FROM 0:12), its layout, and HOW IT COMES IN: a cut, a crossfade, a slide, a push, or a zoom, with a direction where it moves. The cells keep their files. Earlier and Later move a change by half a second, and the cross removes it. Where too little of the collage is left, the Studio says The collage is too short to change its layout there.
06Let files take turns in a cell
CELLS lists each cell; click one, or its row under the Video row on the timeline, to open its page. TAKE TURNS IN IT lists its files in their order, with arrows to make a file's turn come earlier or later and a cross to take it out, and Add pictures or videos… adds more after the ones it has. After the last file the first comes again. With more than one file, EACH PICTURE sets how long each picture shows (− and +, half a second at a time) and CHANGE BETWEEN THEM offers Straight cut, Crossfade, Slide, Push, and Zoom, with DIRECTION for Slide and Push. Same in all cells gives every cell this length and change. FILL is Fill, which crops what does not fit, or Whole, which shows all of it with the colour around.
07Whose sound you hear
A collage plays the sound of one cell's videos, to begin with the first cell that has a video with sound. On a cell's page, The collage plays this cell's sound makes it that cell; untick it and the collage is silent. A picture's turn is silent. Music and voice on other tracks stay.
08The collage is a part like any clip
Under the COLLAGE card is the part's own card: SHOWN FOR, LOOK, COLOUR, and INTO THE NEXT with Use between all clips, as for any clip, and Remove collage. Drag the collage on the Video row to move it, and drag its edge to make it longer or shorter, up to two minutes. Text, marks, and music that lie on it move with it.
09One file goes into a corner
Choose a single file with Collage and it goes over the video from the play position, in a corner, as a block on a layer under OVERLAYS. Its page, Layer 1 or the next layer free there, has CORNER, SIZE (Small, Medium, Large, or Full), Fill or Whole, Its sound for a video, Replace…, COMES AND GOES (Straight cut or Fade), and Remove. A picture alone is shown whole, so a logo keeps its transparent parts.
10Add a title card
Card under PICTURE puts a three-second title card onto the Video row, after the part you picked or at the edge nearest the play position, with Your title on night blue, and its page opens. Type your words into WORDS, over several lines if you like; they are taken when you click elsewhere. BEHIND THE WORDS is A colour (Night blue, White, Blue, Green, Red, or Cream; the letters are white on the dark ones and nearly black on the light ones) or The next clip blurred, the first frame of the clip after the card, blurred and darkened. When the next part is a collage or another card, or there is none, the colour shows.
11A card is a part too
A title card has SHOWN FOR, MOTION for a slow move, LOOK, COLOUR, INTO THE NEXT, and Remove card, and it is dragged and made longer like any part. It has no sound. When everything is in place, Export… and then Export to Queue writes one video, and your files stay as they are.
