Blur the room behind you while you record
Behind me: Blurred keeps you sharp and blurs the room behind you in a recording with your camera, with no green screen and nothing leaving your computer.
01Put your camera in the recording
Open Screen recording, under Create & edit in the sidebar, or the Record the screen tile on Home, and pick Screen, Window, Area, or Game. In the Camera tab, switch on Show my camera in the picture and choose the camera under DEVICE. The blur is for the camera laid over the screen: with Camera only, the camera is the whole picture and keeps the room as it is.
02Choose Blurred
Further down the Camera tab, the BACKGROUND card has Remove the background behind me. Switch it on, and BEHIND ME offers Nothing, where the screen shows through, A picture, with Choose picture…, and Blurred. With Blurred you stay sharp and your room stays, softly blurred, so nothing in it can be made out. The LIVE card shows it before you start, and the recording looks the same. There is no green screen to put up.
03Found on your computer, nothing to download
ClipHearth finds you in every camera frame itself. On a Mac it uses the system's own person detection, on Apple Silicon as on Intel, where it takes a lighter setting so it keeps up with the camera. On 64-bit Windows and on Linux, a small model that comes with ClipHearth does it on the processor. Nothing is downloaded, and nothing of the camera leaves your computer.
04When the blur is made
On a Mac the room is blurred as the camera is recorded, so every file of it is blurred from the start. On Windows and Linux the preview shows about how it will look, and the blur is laid on when the recording is saved, as ClipHearth finds you in each camera frame again. There, the camera kept for the Editor in the .cliphearth folder next to the recording, and the .camera.mp4 from Keep the microphone and the camera as separate files too (Save), are the camera as it was filmed, room and all, so the Editor can still change it. Share the finished recording, not those files. From 1.7.7, if the blur cannot be laid on when the recording is saved, Completed says under the recording that the room behind you could not be blurred, so it shows as recorded.
05Where Blurred is not offered
On 32-bit Windows, and on the rare computer where ClipHearth cannot load its model, the BACKGROUND card asks for an evenly lit green or blue cloth behind you instead (THE CLOTH BEHIND ME IS) and says so; BEHIND ME and Blurred are not there. Camera only has no BACKGROUND card, and Sound only records no picture.
06Change it after recording
Keep zooms and the camera changeable in the Editor, under WHEN IT IS DONE in the Save tab, is on out of the box. The Editor then opens the recording with the camera on a layer, and BEHIND ME in its CAMERA card (Effects) offers As recorded, which is your blurred room, The screen, A picture, and Blurred. If ClipHearth has not found you in that camera picture yet, it does so once, on your computer. A recording made without the blur can get it there too, from 1.7.4: Move the camera in a screen recording explains it.
