Choose, install, or delete an AI subtitle model

Which speech and translation model suits your computer, how to measure it, and how to free the space again. Nothing is installed until you ask.

  1. 01Nothing is installed until you ask

    A new ClipHearth has no AI model. A model downloads only when you click Install, or when you start a subtitles job that needs one, and both need a license. It comes from our own model server, is checked against a fingerprint built into the app before it is used, and your videos never leave the computer.

  2. 02Open Settings, AI Subtitles

    YOUR COMPUTER shows the processor, memory, graphics, and free space; those details stay on the computer. With a license, Test this computer runs a short recognition, and a translation if a model is installed, to measure real speed. It takes about a minute.

  3. 03Speech models

    Whisper Base (57 MB), Small (181 MB), Large v3 Turbo (547 MB), and Large v3 (1.01 GB), from fastest to most accurate. Each card estimates how long an hour of video takes on this computer and one is marked Recommended for this PC or Mac: the best model that fits in memory and handles an hour of video in an hour or less. A small speech detector (0.9 MB) comes along with the first model.

  4. 04Translation models

    Only needed to translate into another language: Hy-MT2 1.8B (1.06 GB) is the faster one, Hy-MT2 7B (4.31 GB) gives better translations and takes longer.

  5. 05Install, pause, delete

    Install with its size starts the download at once, and Pause, Resume, and Cancel control it. Delete removes a model and frees the space; you can install it again later. Models live in a models folder inside ClipHearth's own data: %LOCALAPPDATA%\ClipHearth\models on Windows, ~/Library/Application Support/ClipHearth/models on a Mac, and ~/.local/share/ClipHearth/models on Linux.

  6. 06If your computer cannot run it

    AI subtitles need the 64-bit ClipHearth and, on Intel and AMD processors, the AVX2 instructions that most computers from 2013 on have; otherwise the cards say Not available here. Use the graphics card is on by default and much faster where it works; switch it off in DEFAULTS if subtitles fail or the computer stalls.
